Buoyed by an energetic State of the Union address to Congress and some extra presidential star power, the Biden campaign and its affiliated fundraising groups raised $90 million in March, nearly equaling what they raised in the first two months of 2024 combined. It comes as former President Donald Trump's campaign is only starting to kick its fundraising operation into high gear. Most of the $26 million raised for the March 28 "Three Presidents" fundraiser, which featured Presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton as well as musical performances from Lizzo, Queen Latifah and others, came in over the course of March. The Trump campaign has not yet reported its March fundraising. The Biden campaign says that a majority of its fundraising has now come from "grassroots" donors, and it's embracing the contrast with Trump's weekend event.

Like all presidential budgets, Biden's 2025 plan is more of a wish list than it is a policy document. "Do you really think the wealthy and big corporations need another $2 trillion in tax breaks? Biden's populist, progressive, tax-the-rich funding plan is not a novel proposal from his White House. House Republicans tried to preempt Biden's budget proposal last week, by passing their own 2025 budget resolution in a party-line committee vote. By Nandita BoseWASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will spotlight Republican curbs on abortion rights this week, a galvanizing issue for Democrats that they hope will boost enthusiasm among their base, attract independent voters, and increase turnout in November. The Biden campaign is putting abortion rights front and center in 2024, and argues abortion access is a personal freedom that former President Donald Trump and Republicans are denying women. Democrats hope a threat of further curbs on abortion will bring voters to the polls in November. All seven statewide ballot initiatives to enshrine reproductive rights since 2022 have succeeded, including in conservative Ohio, Kansas and Kentucky. Abortion rights groups are collecting signatures in Arizona, Nevada and Florida to put a reproductive rights amendment on the ballot in 2024 as well.

Since the Biden campaign's launch, nearly 1 million supporters have made more than 2.3 million contributions, and 97% of all its fourth-quarter 2023 donations were under $200, with the average contribution totaling $41.88, it announced. Biden's campaign said December was his strongest fundraising month to date, exceeding a record it said was previously set in November. That helped last year's final quarter outpace the period from July through September, when Biden and his party reported raising $71-plus million. The campaign said the president has held 110 fundraisers since launching, including 39 in last year's fourth quarter alone. Even with so much travel focused on fundraising, however, Biden campaign officials had tried to manage expectations.

Elon Musk told Fox News that Twitter was previously "absurdly overstaffed." Elon Musk said that Twitter was "absurdly overstaffed" before he took over the company in October and laid off thousands of workers. "If you're not trying to run some sort of glorified activist organization ... then you can really let go of a lot of people, it turns out," Musk told Carlson. It also saw a partial outage during the Super Bowl halftime show, despite Musk telling staff to maximize stability for the big event. One unnamed current Twitter employee told Platformer last month that outages have become so frequent that: "I think we're all numb to it," they said.
Internal Twitter emails showed the Biden campaign asked the company to remove posts. Some of the posts contained nude photos of Hunter Biden shared without his consent. "Handled these," an unnamed Twitter executive wrote in an email in response to five links shared by another Twitter employee. Of the links to five since-deleted tweets that were shared in a screenshot by Taibbi, four had archives available online. Musk, Taibbi, and representatives for Twitter and the Biden administration did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment.
